I can remember a time when I wasn’t interested in celebrating my birthday. That is the silliest thing. Gone are the days where I take celebrating myself in any way lightly. You do not need a lot of friends or money to make the most out of your birthday.
In line with my self-care and self-love journey, I celebrated my special day by continuing my birthday tradition of going to the spa. I chose to go to Spa Oasis this year. I had the one-hour Asian Blend Massage. It was so relaxing. It included the use of hot stones. I’d never had a hot stone massage before. It was probably my favorite part of the experience. I also received a gel pedicure. I was completely surprised by the staff coming over to sing happy birthday with a cupcake in hand during my pedicure. That was the first time I’d experienced that at a spa. The cupcake was perfect considering I didn’t have breakfast that morning.
You don’t stop being a mom on your birthday. So, in between dinner, I still had to go grocery shopping and cook dinner before school pick-up. Then, rushing off to dinner.
I was so excited to dine at Intrepid located inside the main hotel at Hamilton Princess and Beach Club. The restaurant was quite dark. However, they had lamps on the table that kept the table perfectly lit. The staff were so friendly and attentive. I ordered the Mermaid Margarita to drink. It was so cute and purple. It came with a tableside presentation of our server dropping in the Mermaid Tears. The crabcake was the perfect appetizer. They use real crab meat, which made the crabcake taste fresh and flavorful. This was perhaps the best crabcake that I’ve had. For my main, I order the roasted half chicken. It came with roast potatoes and brussels sprouts. I was nervous about the brussels sprouts because I had never had them before. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. The potatoes were perfectly salted and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken skin was nice and crispy, and the chicken perfectly cooked. The chicken was well seasoned and the natural jus that accompanied it was so tasty. For dessert, I ordered the apple galette. They inform you that the dessert requires 20 minutes of preparation. I was fine with that because it gave us a nice break between the main and dessert. Of course, the dessert came with a birthday song. Funnily enough, there were two others celebrating their birthday in the restaurant that night.
The restaurant certainly delivered on service and food. If I am paying over $100 per person for dinner, that is level of food quality and service that I expect. I highly recommend this restaurant and would rate it a 9/10.
I had the best day celebrating and taking care of myself. It was an amazing day. I’m so happy that I have chosen to make myself a priority in my life. Someone once said to me, “Jadiyah you are the main character of your life”. I decided that they were absolutely right! Life is not always as hard as we make it. Happiness is a choice, and I’d choose it every day.
Love, peace and good eats,
Jadiyah
