Houston: Girls Trip!
As an adult woman, I highly recommend experiencing a girls trip at least once if you can. Initially, I was apprehensive about how everyone would get along. This is because I would be traveling with someone else’s group of friends that I didn’t know very well. In the end, I was pleased with how well everyone gelled and got along. If you have a group of like-minded, drama free, down for anything women, then you are destined to have a good time.
I’m passionate about not losing who I am as a woman, just because I’m a mom. Having kids doesn’t mean that your life has to pause. Of course, I felt guilty that I was spending time and money that was benefitting me and not my kids. However, I give everything I have to my kids. I sacrifice often to be able to give more to my kids. So, this time away for myself was well worth it.
I am not much of a party girl. I hardly got any sleep on this girls trip because we were constantly going and partying. In my opinion, once you’ve gone out to a couple of clubs in Houston, you have experienced them all. They all have relatively the same vibe, same music and even the same crowd sometimes. I was over it pretty quickly. Is it just me? I also find the party brunch experience to be a bit odd. I don’t mind music during a meal. However, I am not trying to turn up and eat at the same time.
The food in Houston is really good. I did not have one bad experience with food, and I love that for me. I wish that I had tried more food spots in Houston. That is my only regret.
The standout activities we did were the Drunken Laboratory and R&B Night at the Sugar Room. I enjoyed the DJ and vibes at the Sugar Room. The music stood out because every other club we went to basically had the same playlist. The Drunken Laboratory was a fun experience because it was a party and a learning environment all at once. The staff were friendly, the drinks were good, the games were fun/funny, and the DJ played a variety of music genres.
It was refreshing to get to be myself, have fun and get to know the other girls on the trip. I’m looking forward to more trips and experiences. This is what life’s all about.
